Welcome to The Fierce 50
I am thrilled to introduce you to a new movement. It’s a new force in the social media, blogging, and the fashion industry, The Fierce 50 Campaign (#thefierce50). TODAY, 50 fabulous women, fashion, style, and lifestyle bloggers, all in their 50s are coming together. We’re collaborating, highlighting, and honoring each other as we celebrate and raise awareness about our impact in the world. Why today? Because it’s the 50th day of the year. 😉 So advertisers, brands, and the world it’s time to wake up and take notice!
As women in our second life we’re all about rebirth and rejuvenation. We, The Fierce 50, through our lived experiences have tremendous strength and power. We represent a collective wisdom and grace that’s too often overlooked. I talked about this in my Huffington Post articles 50, Curvy & Fabulous and The Return of the Invisible Woman. Now the movement is here.
Meet Fashion, Trends, and Friends!
To reinforce our collective spirit our organizer paired us up to connect and introduce each other to our readers. I have the privilege of introducing you to the ladies behind Fashion Trends & Friends – Lori McCaffrey, Julie Augustyn, and Cindy Thomas. You’ll WANT to get to know the force behind Fashion Trends and Friends. FTF was created by these three life-long friends who love to shop together and follow fashion. Their mission was to create an online community of friends. A place for women to find clothing options, outfits that are on trend, flattering, age appropriate and minimize problem areas. They provide women stylish fashion inspiration featuring the season’s trends for all body types – all in one spot. A needed voice and perspective in the world of fashion particularly in today’s busy, fast-paced world. Fashion Trends and Friends is a GREAT resource for quickly finding that perfect outfit for any season.
Julie, Cindy and Lori met at Northern Illinois University their freshman year in college and quickly became “forever friends.” I went to school not too far from these beauties at Loyola University of Chicago on the North Shore of Chicago, Illinois. Now powerhouse women in their 50s, the FTF crew have successful careers in business and education. They’re married with children and stepchildren and live full and very busy lives. Julie and Lori live in suburbs of Chicago while Cindy now lives in Tucson.
Although the ladies at FTF love their day jobs, after a discussion around the challenges they, and so many other women were facing around aging, they decided to start a blog. Wanting to remain fashionable, hip, cool and on trend and age appropriate while dealing with thickening middles and varicose veins, they created Fashion Trends and Friends.
FTF The Movement
For a little under one year, these ladies have been diligently growing their followers, engaging their fans, and building loyalty among their tribe. The key they believe to their instant success…relatability. Like the lives of their readers, the ladies lives are hectic as they often find themselves running around constantly trying to do it all and get it all done in 24 hour period.
The FTF blog gives women a place to go to learn about current trends and receive help in finding those things that are both flattering to and camouflaging those problem areas. They also provide great tips on where to buy them! Since Julie, Cindy and Lori represent three different body types and have three distinct styles, all with curves, they’re able to provide a variety of insight that will appeal to a variety of women.
The key to the FTF blog is first and foremost friendship. It’s clear that the ladies love each other and genuinely enjoy spending time together. They’re pretty funny and easily crack each other up particularly when shopping together, which with their current living situation they don’t get to do as often as we’d like. In the end, FTF desires to share their friendship and love of fashion with others while building an online community of women who want to do the same. I say brava to these beautiful and dynamic women!
