It’s that time of year!
Nordstrom Anniversary sale is one of the biggest sales of the year. It’s also the perfect time to get a head start on your fall wardrobe at discount prices. Also don’t for get to enter the #NSALE Sweep for a chance to win a $500 gift card.
Before you go crazy for some of the great deals they have to offer, I’d like to share two important tips. This will help you to maximize what Nordstrom has to offer.
CAUTION: If you don’t know what to shop for or how to shop, then consult trained and certified image consultant who can help you find just what you need. Don’t guess, don’t rely on the in store stylist, and please don’t go with your “stylish” friend. Work with someone who understands the art AND science of dressing your body for all of your work and lifestyle needs. Only someone you’ve worked with will know how to help you.
Use The Sale to Buy Your Heroes
One of the key reasons people don’t update or upgrade their wardrobe is cost. They say, “I have champagne taste with a beer budget”. However, big sales at high-end stores like Nordstrom are the perfect remedy to this dilemma. This is your opportunity to purchase your “hero” items, meaning your wardrobe staples, at affordable prices. Your heroes will include dresses, blazers, skirts, pants, handbags, shoes, and coats. What you select will depend upon your work environment, personal style and lifestyle.
Go through your closet and look for those hero pieces that are outdated or in need of repair. Add them to your list and then shop with these things in mind. This is where the cost per wear formula will serve you well. When you go in focused, searching for key items, you’ll shop effectively and efficiently.
Don’t Get Sucked Into a Bargain
While I just said to use this sale to get great deals, you also don’t want to shop for things just because it’s on sale. I know this may sound contradictory, but let me explain. In almost every closet I go into there’s at least one or two items that still have the tags on them. When I ask about the item the answer is, “it was a great deal”. Shopping is never about simply finding a deal.
Shopping is about filling your closet with pieces that reflect your authentic style so that you feel confident and capable every day.
If, during the process, you find what you need at a great deal, then that’s a win. But don’t shop just to score a great deal. In the end all you’ll be left with is a hodge podge of items that don’t really reflect you or blend well with your existing wardrobe.
Make a plan, only purchase what you love, and know works with your wardrobe and represents YOU.
Now that you know how to shop, take a look at a few of my favorites.
What are your favorites? Get them while they last. Remember, stay focused and have fun!
