I recently received an email from a reader requesting that I blog about shapewear. Initially, I thought I’d pull a past blog on shapewear and share it with her but as I looked through my archives I realized I’ve never blogged about shapewear. It surprised me that after all this time I hadn’t shared my favorites or even why you need shapewear. Well, now I’m correcting my oversight to share about a new shapewear discovery and additional info on my favorites.
The main shapewear I want to share with you is Ruby Ribbon. I was given a cami to try after questioning its fit and ability to stay to in place all day. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I could not only wear their cami comfortably without a bra (with great support) but it stayed in place and didn’t rise up at all during the day. The silicone gripper edge along the base of the cami ensures that it remains anchored, avoiding any “riding up” or rolling, which is the number one complaint of most similar camis. I was also sold on their amazing smoothing, lifting, and shaping technology. The same thing is true of their high waist thigh slimmer which includes an extra wide 5″ tummy panel and 20% spandex.
The shapewear comes in champagne and black, lace and sheer, with full or comfort support giving you something for everyone. In addition to their shapewear, they have a line of fashion “essentials” that include the same shapewear technology. That includes skirts, tops, pants, and dresses. Sizes range from extra small to 3X and 32-46 support cups B-H.
Ruby Ribbon is primarily available through independent stylists although you can order directly from their site. I believe in their products enough that I decided to partner with ruby ribbon to offer their amazing camis and shapewear directly to my image consulting clients.
Additional Shapewear Options
In addition to Ruby Ribbon, here are some other shapewear brands some of which I’ve used and found effective. There’s an asterik next to the shapewear I’ve used before.
Since you’re making a bit of an investment in your shapewear you’ll want to make sure you properly care for it so will remain in your wardrobe for seasons to come. It’s always best to have more than one shapewear so you can wear one and rest one. Step into your camis and make sure the gripper edage rests flat against your skin. When washing use the delicate cycle, cold water and wash it in a mesh bag. Use a gentle very low heat cycle to tumble dry or line dry. This way it will bounce back and be ready to support you perfectly for the next wear.
